 Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan promised on Monday that more than 200 Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Islamist militants would soon return home, teenage Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai said after meeting him.

Malala, who became a global celebrity after surviving being shot in the head by the Taliban for campaigning for girls' education, was visiting Nigeria to support an international campaign for the release of the teenage students abducted in mid-April by the Islamist insurgent group Boko Haram.........................

ANKARA: The president of Iraq's autonomous Kurdish region will meet Turkish leaders Monday as Ankara keeps a close eye on moves for an independent Iraqi Kurdistan amid the chaos in its conflict-torn neighbor.

Massoud Barzani is due to meet President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the capital Ankara in separate meetings from 1100 GMT.

The visit comes as lightening gains by the self-proclaimed Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) in Iraq have alarmed countries in the region and sparked calls for Kurdish autonomy to counter the radical Islamist threat........................
