OCCUPIED JERUSALEM: The Israeli army has approved requests to evacuate 800 foreigners from the Gaza Strip.
Government coordinator Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai approved the requests and the foreigners will be evacuated Sunday through the Erez crossing, Israeli Yediot Aharonot newspaper reported.
Citizens of the U.S., Romania, Sweden, Norway, Britain, Turkey and Australia are expected to be among those evacuated from the Palestinian territory.
The move comes amid ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, which have killed more than 120 people and injured hundreds since Monday.
Israel says that the offensive - dubbed "Operation Protective Edge" - is aimed at ending rocket fire from Gaza.
Gaza-based resistance factions, meanwhile, have continued to fire rockets into Israel in response to the unrelenting airstrikes.
